Back To School Coffee
On the first day of school the PTF sponsors a Coffee hour for parents. After parents drop their child(ren) off at school they are invited to the Fellowship Hall for a light breakfast before accompanying their child to the first Chapel of the school year.

Back to School Picnic
On the Friday following the start of the school year, the PTF sponsors a school-wide Family Picnic. The PTF provides a meat and rolls and families who attend bring either a dessert or side dish and table service for their family. The Picnic is usually in the West Parking lot if weather permits. In the case of bad weather the event is moved into the Fellowship Hall. This is a popular family event to start the year. The school has an Open House for K-8 following the picnic.

Eighth Grade Graduation
Each year the Eighth Grade Students have a ceremony to celebrate their graduation from St. John Lutheran School. PTF provides cake and punch which is served after the ceremony.

Ice Cream Social
This PTF event coincides with either the 3rd/4th Grade Musical or the 7th/8th Grade Play in the Spring semester of school. Families are encouraged to come to the class performance and then stay to enjoy the Ice Cream Social.

Ice Skating Party:
The Ice Skating Party is a fun event in December and it is extremely well attended by both St. John staff and families. It is held at the University of Illinois Ice Arena. PTF provides drinks and families bring snacks to share. PTF pays the fee to cover the rental of the facility and skates for everyone.

Kindergarten Graduation
Each year the Kindergarten Teacher(s) at St. John Lutheran School have a graduation celebration for the Kindergarten students the last week of school. The PTF helps with this celebration by providing cake and punch.

Lutheran Schools Week: Grandparent & Special Friends Breakfast
In the Spring semester, St. John Lutheran School participates in Lutheran Schools Week. There are many fun activities planned for students during this week at school. PTF sponsors a Grandparents and Special Friends Breakfast on the first school day of Lutheran Schools Week. Grandparents and Special Friends of students are invited to come to school for this breakfast followed by attending Chapel with students. Grandparents and Special Friends will get to spend time with their St. John student as well as learn about the school. It is a wonderful start to a fun filled week.

Relay for Life
PTF sponsors a Relay for Life Team each year. Students, staff, and parents are encouraged to volunteer and participate in the event to raise money for the American Cancer Society. This event encourages service and support of the community.

Talent Show
This PTF event coincides with a fundraiser affiliated with the Athletic Department or 7th Grade Spaghetti Dinner. Students are asked to sign up to perform in the Talent Show. On the night of the fundraiser the Talent Show follows the dinner. It is a very entertaining evening.

Teacher Conference Lunch
The PTF provides a lunch for teachers and staff on the first day of Parent-Teacher Conferences in the Fall and Spring.

Teacher/Staff Appreciation Week
PTF sponsors a Teacher and Staff Appreciation Week in the Spring semester. Parent volunteers with the help of Room Representatives usually make plans to have something special for teachers and staff each day of the week. Some past activities have been to have students bring apples/flowers for their teacher, to decorate teachers doors, to provide lunch or snacks, and to wash teacher and staff cars.

Teacher Staff Birthday Treats
On the first Wednesday of each month the PTF provides Birthday Treats for St. John Teachers and Staff. Parent volunteers sign up for a month at the beginning of the school year to provide these treats.
