I am the part-time reading resource teacher for St. John Lutheran School. I work with students in small groups or individually to build their decoding, vocabulary, comprehension and fluency skills. In addition to small group instruction, I go into classrooms to read stories, help students perform reader theater plays, and provide additional instructional support for students. I assist all students with the Accelerated Reader program.

I also provide reading incentives for all the students in kindergarten through eighth grade. Students in kindergarten through third grade are encouraged to read books from the Monarch Book List. Students in fourth through eighth grade are encouraged to read books from the Rebecca Caudill Book List. (These lists are located on the school web-site under Reading List.) Both of these lists are generated through the Illinois Library Association. In February, our students, along with other students in the state of Illinois, can vote for their favorite book from the list. In addition to the Monarch and Rebecca Caudill book programs, students in kindergarten through sixth grade participate in Book-It.
