May 27th, 2008

PTF Board Members Present: Renee Nagy, Karen Rohrer, Monica Taylor, Linda Prom, Lynn Marassa, Laurie McDonald, Ralph Leffler
Others Present: Leah Seten, Michelle DeYoung, Angie Fenwick, Diane Pelafos, Patty Pyrz, Pam Haase, Jeni Oschwald
- Renee Nagy opened with devotion and prayer.
- Business Meeting:
- Minutes of meeting for April 28, 2008 meeting. M/S/C to approve.
- Principal’s Report: Enrollment for next year is currently at 194. Open House was on May 1st. Turnout was low, with two families enrolling. There is no school on Thursday, last day of school if Friday. Chapel will be held on last day of school at 8:25. Summer office hours for the school will begin on second week in June, with hours from 9-11 a.m. Sara Elliott will be the summer office attendant.
- Treasurer’s Report: M/S/C to approve. A check for Box Tops for $706 was received.
- Volunteer Coordinator’s Report: The last teacher staff birthday treat day was May 14th. The nominating committee has been working on placements for volunteers.
- Committee Reports:
- Graduations: The Kindergarten graduation went well. Wendy Wolters is in charge of the 8th grade graduation.
- Kirby Foods/HVC/County Market: There will be an opportunity for individuals to sign up for these programs at the back to school picnic.
- Market Day: The sale for May 28th is projected to make $385. Summer sales pick-up will be June 21st, and August 23rd. Orders must be submitted on June 17th and August 19th.
- Plant Sale/Danville Gardens Gift Cards Sale: Karen Rohrer reported all 500 gift cards were sold. The total profit was $1450,
- with a to sell more often between church services next year.
- Relay for Life: Mrs. Haase reported the $5,500 was raised, including the Thrivent match. The fee for participating for next year has been raised from $50 to $75.
- SchoolPop: E-Mails will be going out to families on May 28th regarding tuition credits from SchoolPop.
- Scrip: Laurie McDonald reported that quarterly reports will be mailed in June. The last order totaled over $34,000 in orders, resulting in $1,515.71 in rebates. Discussion was held on trying to include more local vendors, including possibly Schnucks. Discussion was held if individuals could pay online for orders instead of submitting to organizer. PTF Board voted to keep the program as it currently is for now. Scrip will have summer orders, but orders will be once a month instead of twice a month.
- Teacher Appreciation Week: Karen Rohrer reported that Teacher Appreciation Week went well. Mrs. Haase stated “it was wonderful”.
- Teacher/Staff/PTF End of the Year Social (sign-up): Sign up sheet was sent around to sign up for the End of Year Social. The social will be held on June 2nd, at 5 p.m. at Old Orchard Bowling Alley.
- Reports from Staff, Parents, and Congregation: None
- Old Business:
- Nominating Committee Report: An individual is still needed to be in charge of logo items, and teacher appreciation week. A room rep. for 7th grade is also still needed.
- New Business:
- Folders for events need to be returned by the end of this week.
- Yearbook pages: Extra pages are available for the PTF to include pictures/information for next school year.
- 2008-2009 Calendar of Events: Discussed the Calendar of Events. The auction has been changed to April 17th. A $500 deposit needs to be paid to the Round Barn Banquet Hall. The deposit will be credited to the food bill. A motion was passed to release funds to the Banquet Hall.
- 2008-2009 Committee Chairs: Discussed Committee chairs for next school year.
- Election of Officers: Discussed election of officers for next school year.
- Date for Summer PTF Meeting: There will be no meeting in June. The next meeting will be held on July 22nd, to set the budget. This meeting will be for board members only.
- Thank Yous: Karen Rohrer and Renee Nagy gave thank you notes, flowers, and a gift to Committee Chairs.
- Adjourn with prayer: Karen Rohrer closed with prayer.
