OUR SCHOOL

STUDENTS
This report has information showing student enrollment by grade, race or ethnic background, and church affiliation. The student attendance rate is also provided. A perfect rate of 100% would mean that every student attended school every day. The attendance rate is significant because students who attend school regularly perform better academically.

STANFORD ACHIEVEMENT TEST
The following tables summarize the performance of the students in grades 2—8 on the Stanford Achievement Test (SAT) which was administered in April, 2009. Each subject area at a grade level is reported. In a normal distribution of scores for a large group, one would expect a quarter (25%) of the population to fall into each quartile. A percentage in any quartile that is larger than 25% indicates that that group is larger than one would normally expect. Percentages larger than 25 in the top quartile and the third quartile are desirable. One also would expect that 50% of the students at a grade level would be at or above the median score; percentages greater than 50 are quite good.
God has blessed every child with different talents and abilities. At St. John Lutheran School, our teachers strive to help each child use these God-given blessings to reach the highest academic level possible. These standard achievement tests do not measure everything that students have learned or have been taught. The religious instruction that the children receive is not measurable by any standard achievement test. The effects of this instruction, which includes memorization and application of scripture, faith building activities, and worship experiences, can be seen in the lives and actions of our students.
