We had a tremendous response to the “Books by the Bushel” program again this year. Forty-one new books were purchased for our school library by many supporters of reading and St. John Lutheran School. There will be a display in the school office from Wednesday, April 2, 2008 through Wednesday April 9; please stop by and take a look. Thank you to all who contributed to this event.
The Birthday Book Club has added some new members. Marlyn E. and Kelly T. had books chosen in their honor. We hope that you both enjoyed your birthday.
Recently book donations were brought in by Alex C., Richele M. and Faye Drews. Thank you very much for thinking of our school library!

ATHLETICS
There will be no Track practice today Friday, March 14th.
We are still missing some Track Participation Forms and for those students wishing to participate in Track and Field. Students who need uniforms ordered, turn in your order forms to the office ASAP or your uniforms/windsuits may not be here by the first track meet.
There are still some basketball and volleyball uniforms that have not been returned. Please have them washed and returned after Spring Break. Thank you.
VOLLEYBALL MINI-CAMP What: Ashley Vance Volleyball Mini-Camp
When: March 17th – 18th, 2008
5th & 6th Graders: 9 – 11 a.m.
7th & 8th Graders: 11 – 1 p.m.
Description: This camp is two days long. Each day is a 2-hour session. Athletes will work on all aspects of volleyball including: serving, setting, passing and hitting. This camp is for athletes of all ability levels. Athletes should come prepared with pads and proper athletic shoes and attire. This camp is $50, for both days. Pre-payment and registration is required to reserve a spot for this camp. A parental waiver must be signed before the start of the first session. Please call Mettler Athletics at 398-9800.
BASKETBALL MINI-CAMP
What: Sergio McClain Basketball Mini-Camp
When: March 17th – 18th, 2008
5th & 6th Graders: 1:30 – 3:30 p.m.
7th & 8th Graders: 3:30 – 5:30 p.m.
Description: This camp is two days long. Each day is a 2-hour session. Athletes will work on all aspects of basketball training and skill development including: dribbling, passing, shooting form, defense strategy. This is open to athletes of all ability levels and experience. Athletes should come prepared with proper gym shoes and athletic attire. $50.00 includes both instruction days and a Mettler Athletic T-shirt. Pre-payment and registration is required to reserve a spot in this camp. A parental waiver must be signed before the start of the first session. Please call Mettler Athletics at 398-9800.

The St. John’s Track Meet Concession Stand needs more volunteers throughout the day. Sign-up is outside of school office. Shifts are 2 hours and 15 minutes and the event will run from 9 am to 6 pm on April 5.

MARKET DAY
The next Market Day sale will be Wednesday, April 2 from 3-4pm in the Fellowship Hall. Order forms went home with the children earlier this week and are due to the school office by Friday, March 28. Internet orders may be placed at www.marketday.com until noon on the 28th. 10% of each order goes to our school!
PLANT SALE
Beginning April 1 (no joke!), the PTF will be sponsoring the popular Plant Sale. In the interest of serving more people through this event, the PTF is offering gift cards for sale. These gift cards are generously provided by Danville Gardens. Danville Gardens has locations in Danville, Champaign, and will also be selling at this year’s Urbana Farmer’s Market. More information will be sent home with students after Spring Break or visit the PTF Events section on the school website, www.stjohnls.com , after Spring Break.

Recent orders were available for pick-up in the school office Wednesday. We will be placing our next order when we return from Easter Break. Please have your orders in the lockbox by noon on Tuesday, March 25th (our first day back).
