RE-ENROLLMENT PACKETS FOR 08-09

Re-enrollment packets for the 2008-2009 school year will come home with your student on February 27.  Scholarship applications are available in the school office.  The processing fee is $20.00.

INCENTIVE FOR NEW STUDENT RECRUITMENT

St. John School parents who recruit new families with students in kindergarten through eighth grade will receive a $300 tuition credit per family recruited.  The new family must identify the family who recruited them on the enrollment application.  If the recruiting family is not identified on the enrollment application at the time of enrollment, the recruiting family may not receive this benefit.  This tuition credit will be applied to the last tuition payment of the school year (January 2009 for 2008-2009 school year), or applied to a designated fund of the church or school, if the new family remains enrolled through that time.

TRANSPORTATION REIMBURSEMENT FORMS

Transportation Reimbursement forms are now in the school office.  Any family who lives farther than 1 ½ miles from school is encouraged to sign up for this reimbursement. Children who are current Kindergarten – 8th grade students may be claimed.

PRIMARY CHOIR SINGS

The Primary Choir (Kindergarten, 1st, and 2nd grade) will be singing on Sunday, February 17, at the beginning of the 10:45 a.m. service.  Students will meet in the Fellowship Hall at 10:40 a.m.  See you there!  -Mrs. Folkmann

BAND FEES

If you are paying by the quarter or the semester, band fees were due February 1st.  ($50.00 a quarter, $100.00 a semester)

CENTRAL FRESHMAN ORIENTATION

As many of you know, both the Open House and new freshmen visit day were cancelled due to inclement weather.  Fortunately, both have been rescheduled!  The new day for the Open House is February 26th from 7-9pm.  The new day for your students to visit is February 27th from 9:15am-1:30pm.

I will be adding all of your students to the “Yes” RSVP list for the 27th unless I hear otherwise.  Also, if you have questions about the registration forms, I will still make myself available from 8:45am-9:15am on the 27th.  Please email or call with any questions about paperwork, the events, or anything else.

ATHLETICS

The 5th Annual St John Track & Field Invitational will be held Saturday, April 5th, 2008, at the U of I Armory indoor facility.  The Athletic Department is looking for approximately 50 volunteers to assist with various meet functions.  This commitment includes being at the U of I Armory from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. on April 5th and an attendance at a ½ hour meeting a week before the event.  Knowledge of track and field is not needed for a majority of the volunteer opportunities.

Please contact Jeff Miller or Brad Luhrsen with the St John athletic department, Joy Lou Walker in the school office, or one of the track and field coaches Ed Drebes, Eric Potter, Karl Newman if you are able to volunteer any time to this event.

BOOK FAIR

Volunteers:
Thank you to everyone who has signed up to work at the book fair!  We are still looking for volunteers to help next week.  Everyone is welcome!  If you need to bring your children with you to the book fair, that’s fine.  However, we won’t have childcare available.  Older children are welcome to help!  All volunteers get the teacher/staff discount.  When you buy 4 books, you get the 5th book free!  (5th book must be of equal or lesser value.)  When you work at the fair, proceeds go directly to your child’s classroom library and the school library!

We need help with the following tasks:
Publicity:  You can help by picking up posters in the school office and hang them
up around town.

Setting Up:  We’ll be meeting in the gym and setting up displays on Sunday, Feb.
10th at 2:00, and we’ll stay until we're done.

Providing Snacks/Treats: Please drop off snacks and drinks in the school office
on Monday, Tuesday, and Thursday mornings.

Working the Fair: There are yellow sign up sheets hanging just above the
parent/teacher conference sign up sheets.  We REALLY need people to help fill time slots.  Please consider spending an hour at the book fair.  Please try to arrive 5-10 minutes early for your shift.  Also, I would like for anyone who is going to work the book fair to come to a short (20 minute) orientation at one of the following times if possible: Sunday right after we set up, Monday 2/11 at 3:30 pm, or Tuesday 2/12 at 7:45 am.

Packing Up:  We will pack up the fair on Saturday at 11:00.  This will include
taking down posters and boxing up displays.

Volunteers needed work St. John Track Meet Concession Stand on April 5, 2008 from 9-6pm.   Sign up for a 2 hour 15 minute shift and earn FAITH HOURS.   Sign up is located outside the school office.   Contact Karen Rohrer with questions.

Volunteers to provide childcare during Parent Teacher Conferences are needed.   The PTF provides childcare for families on February 14th from 5-8 pm.    A sign up for an hour shift before or after your child's conference.   Sign-up sheet is located outside the school office.   Contact Karen Rohrer with questions.

The PTF needs volunteers to assist in providing childcare during PTF meetings.    The meeting lasts from 6:30 pm until 8:30 pm on the 4th Tuesday of each month.    A sign-up sheet is located outside the school office.  Contact Karen Rohrer with questions

We are looking for a few volunteers to pass out lunches to Grandparents/Special Visitors and our school children on Monday, March 3rd from 11:20 – 1:00.  If you would be able to help out, please contact Joy Lou in the school office.
