Copies of your 2007-2008 tuition and band statement are available in the school office if you need them for tax purposes.  Please pick them up at your convenience.

REPORT CARDS

Report cards came out today. There will be no update on your FAITH hours in this report card.  Please remember that you are responsible for recording your own hours in the FAITH binder located in the office.

FUTURE FRESHMAN

Centennial High School will host their Future Freshman Night on January 31st at 6:30 in the Theatre.  It will highlight curriculum offerings in English, Mathematics, Science, Social Science and Foreign Languages.  They will offer information about AVID and ECP programs.  Counselors will be available throughout the evening to answer questions.
Centennial High School would like to invite new freshman to schedule a morning or afternoon to shadow a Centennial student and experience first hand the essence of their school.  The counselors will be pre-registering students from private schools on the evening of February 21st from 5:00 – 7:00 in the library.  Please bring a birth certificate for your student when you come.

Information will be sent home today with your 8th grade student.

Central High School will host their Freshman Orientation Night on January 29th from 7:00 – 9:00 in Decker Theatre.  This is a program intended for both students and parents.  It will give a brief overview of the high school program.  Families may choose to meet with representatives from various academic departments or the athletic dept.
Feb. 1st from 8:45 – 1:00 is Future Freshman Visitation Day.  Students from public and private schools will come to spend the morning and learn a great deal about Central.  In order to attend Visitation Day, families must make reservations to attend.  They should contact the registrar, Jessica Vlna, at 351-3922 by Tuesday, Jan. 29th.

Information will be sent home today with your 8th grade student.

SPAGHETTI DINNER  

Tickets for the 7th Grade Spaghetti Dinner/Dessert Auction are available in the school office until Friday, January 25th, on sale between church services in the Fellowship Hall on Sunday, January 20th and at the door the evening of the dinner.  The date is January 26th, from 4:30 – 7:00 p.m. with the Children’s Talent Show immediately following.  Adults are $8.00 and children 6-10 are $5.00.  The menu is all you can eat spaghetti, salad, bread and a dessert auction. This is a fund raiser to support the 7th grade class going to Gettysburg and Washington D.C. next school year.  Thank you for your support!

TALENT SHOW

If you would like to do an act for our PTF Talent Show, it is not too late.  Please bring in your sign up form to the office no later than Wed. Jan. 23rd.  Get together with your friends and make up an act.  The more acts we have, the more fun it is.

NATIONAL LUTHERAN SCHOOLS WEEK

National Lutheran Schools week will be held March 1 – 7.  For those of you new to our school, each day that week we do something special, with more information to come out as the date gets a little closer.  Monday, March 3rd, will be our Grandparents or Special Guest Day.  On that day, students may invite grandparents or special guests to come to our school.  They may begin the day with a breakfast in our Fellowship Hall from 8:00 – 8:40, go to chapel with their student, visit their student’s classrooms and then eat lunch with their child.  On that day, we will cater lunch from KFC (2 crispy strip meal w/2 sides) and Village Inn (large chef salad). An order form is attached . Children and grandparents or special guests need to pre-order these lunches if they wish to have a lunch that day.  The pre-order form is due Feb. 13th. You may also bring a sack lunch from home.  We will not have our normal caterer that day.

JUNIOR HIGH DANCE

We are still looking for parents to help with our junior high semi-formal dance on Friday, February 15th.  We especially need parents to help with photography and to help clean up after the event.  If you can help, please contact Mrs. Rivers or Mrs. Greene.

PTF NEWS

Volunteer Opportunity

The PTF is looking for parents and 6th, 7th, or 8th graders who are willing to assist in watching the children during our monthly meetings.  Our next meeting is Tuesday, January 29.  The time frame is from 6:15pm to about 8:30pm.  Volunteering in this capacity can count as F.A.I.T.H. hours.  Please contact Karen Rohrer for details 359-0432.

SCRIP

Orders were available Wednesday in the school office. If you have not yet picked up your order, please try and do so before the weekend. Also, we have extended the due date for the next orders. Please note orders will be due in the lockbox outside the school office by 9:00 am Wednesday, January 23rd. These orders will be available for pick-up Wednesday, January 30th.

If you need an extra information packet or enrollment form, they are available in the school office and on the Narthex table. You may also go to www.glscrip.com to view this program more closely. While there, click on "What's New" to see the long list of retailers offering increased discounts this month! There are quite a few. Check it out!

January Market Day orders are due by next Friday to the school office.

Box Tops Winter Collection

It is time to start turning in those nicely trimmed Box Tops. We will be actively collecting Box Tops until February 22.  At that time the class with the most neatly trimmed Box Tops will win a class Ice Cream Party.  The key words are neatly trimmed. For the Box Tops to count for the Ice Cream Party, the Box Tops need to be trimmed around the dotted line.  Thank you for supporting our school.
