NOTE FROM SCHOOL BOARDParents are always welcome to attend school board meetings to share their thoughts. We have a regular time set aside expressly for this purpose each month. Our next scheduled board meeting is this Tuesday evening at 5:30 in the library. School board minutes are also posted on our Web site. At any time, questions can also be directed to Mr. Leffler in the school office or to a school board member. Thanks for your help in making this a great school!
CHILDREN’S CHRISTMAS SERVICELou Ann Miller video taped our Children’s Christmas Service and kindly made a copy for each student. Check with your child if you haven’t received your copy yet. If any family wants any additional DVD’s for family members, please stop by the school office for a copy.
FEBRUARY LUNCH MENUThe February lunch menu came out yesterday. It is due back to the school office no later than Thursday, Jan. 10. An electronic copy is also attached. Please no late orders.

FOOD, FUN & FELLOWSHIPPlease help support the class of 2009 by attending the Spaghetti Dinner/Dessert Auction/Talent Show on Saturday, January 26, 2008. Tickets are for sale in the school office. Proceeds from this event will help fund the Washington D.C. trip this fall. If you would like to bake for the Dessert Auction, please contact Wendy Wolter at 359-6997. Thank you for your support!
CHOLOLATE NIGHT IS COMING!You are invited to attend Chocolate Night at St. John Lutheran School on Thursday, January 31st from 5:30pm-7:00pm. During the evening we will explore chocolate through our five senses by traveling to different stations to measure, weigh, estimate, graph, count, pattern, taste, and paint with chocolate. The evening will conclude with a story time where the children will be hearing stories with a chocolate theme. This event is planned specifically for current kindergarten students and students who will be eligible for kindergarten in the fall of 2008. Each student must have one parent with him/her to experience the different stations. Due to space limitations and limited supplies, we ask that you do not bring siblings with you. There will be a brief question and answer period for parents who want to know more about our school or wish to pick up registration information. Please enter the school through the southeast doors by the school office. Participants will not go home empty handed!
(Please let the school office know if your child has any allergies to chocolate. 359-1714)

SCRIP
St. John PTF would like to thank everyone for their participation so far! For those of you who have ordered SCRIP, we hope you found the program to be not only beneficial but convenient and FUN! We are pleased to announce that in the first 3 orders, St. John families earned $767.38 in tuition/organization credits! That’s in 1 month! Participants also should have received their first statement before Christmas break. Statements will be sent out quarterly: March, June, October and December. Tuition credit payouts (yeah!!) will be made twice a year: the first going toward your upcoming registration deposit and the second toward November tuition.
We hope if you have not yet placed an order through SCRIP, you would consider doing so. It is a great way to earn tuition credit for your family or a family you would like to sponsor as well as earning dollars for your school. While doing so, you are conveniently ordering items you would be purchasing as a regular part of your shopping routine.
We will be placing another order next week. Please have your order with payment and the
$1 handling fee (either included with your check total or cash, labeled so we know whose order it belongs to) in the lockbox outside the office door no later than 12 pm, this Tuesday, January 8th. This order will be available for pick-up Wednesday, January 16th from 8 am – 3:15 pm.
Remember: If you need an extra information packet or enrollment form, they are available in the school office and on the Narthex table. You may also go to www.glscrip.com to view this program more closely. While there, click on “What’s New” to see the long list of retailers offering increased discounts this month!
