PTF Board Members
Present: Renee Nagy, Karen Rohrer,
Monica Taylor, Linda Prom, Lynn Marassa, Tricia Morenz, Julie Tappendorf, Ralph
Leffler, Faith Block, Laurie McDonald.

Renee Nagy opened with devotions and prayer.
Business Meeting:
1. Minutes for July 17 were approved with correction that
Karen Rohrer closed meeting with prayer.
2. Treasurer’s Report:
A. Budget
for 2007-2008 was approved after following corrections made:
1. Budget increased for BoxTops from $1,000 to
$1,200.
2. Jerry’s IGA/HVC increased from $800 to $1,100.
3. Meijer: Participants can sign up for a Meijer
Credit Card, or apply for Meijer Card that works like HVC card.
4. Expenses for logo items were minimal, at
$41.50.
5. The Lutheran Schools Week was increased to
$250, as gifts will be purchased for the students this year.
6. Departing Teacher Gifts will be put on agenda
for future meeting.
7. Discussed adding money to the Ice Skating Party,
will remain the same at $450.
8. Relay For Life entry fee was not included in
budget. The fee of $50 will be added to
Allocated General Purchase category.
9. The funds for the Art Program will be changed
from Lynch to Folkmann.
B. Monthly
Treasurer’s Report approved.
C. Educational Supplies for Teachers: included in budget,
no discussion.
3. Committee Reports:
A. Volunteer
Coordinator: Laurie McDonald stated that
letters and birthday lists were sent to room reps and board members. Thank you notes were distributed to Peggy
Cler and Angie Fenwick for chairing the Back to School Coffee.
B. Family
Fun: Back to School Coffee: Peggy Cler
and Angie Fenwick chaired this event. 50
people were reported as attending. Added
to the menu this year were yogurt and granola bars. The remaining food was given to
teachers. It was noted that the Church charged
for use of the coffee pots, this will be considered for the budget next
year. Angie Fenwick stated she called
new families to extend invitation to attend coffee.
C. Family Fun: Back
to School Picnic, Open House: Jennifer
Mueller and Gail Jacobsen chaired this event.
Discussed that seating was limited, possibly have the serving line
outside under the awning when picnic can’t be done outside due to weather. Discussed having certain areas off limits
during Open House, such as the gym as there was an injury this year.
D. Book
Fair: Pages for All Ages: No information
was given.
E. Car
Wash: Bruce and Kristine Sherrick are
chairing this event. Flyers were sent to
Little Lamb (new this year). Car Wash
packets are to be given to room reps after holiday weekend.
F. Kirby Foods/HVC/County Market Sign-Ups: Registration attempts
were made at the Back to School Coffee and Back to School Picnic and Open
House.
G. Logo
Items-Items for new staff: Michelle
DeYoung stated a profit of $717 in the first two events of the year. Polo shirts will also be available in
Navy. Orders can be placed in office or
online to Michelle DeYoung. New items
available this year, including bracelets and earrings sold well.
H. Market Day: Diane Pelafos stated that this
summer they had 2 sales. June sales were
$217 and August $260. A handout
explained incentives to order this month.
There will be a nationwide drawing for schools that participate in
Market Day. Prizes include a 50” plasma TV
and gift certificates. If October goal
is met, the school can earn $400 in free books from Scholastic.
I. Schoolpop: Mary
Slack reported that 70 people are now signed up with program. The most recent check was for $424.47.
J. BoxTops
for Education contest: Sarah Kresca was
the winner for the Summer BoxTops collection contest. Awards will be presented quarterly to the
class that brings in the most BoxTops.
K. IGA Charity Coupon Books: Deleted from agenda.
L. Ice Skating: December 10th is
tentative date for Ice Skating Party. Faith
Block is waiting for date confirmation.
4. Reports from congregational representatives: Mr.
Leffler stated that the enrollment at St. John School
is currently 218. 28 students are
enrolled in Kindergarten. Stacey
Folkmann is now in charge of the 3 choirs, and music teacher for K-5th grade
for music besides choir. She is also the
art teacher for 3rd-5th grade. All
classes are now signed up for Library.
The computer lab is up and close to running. Computer lab has new monitors and internet
connection. Stated no school Labor Day,
and September 13th is early dismissal. There is currently no Spanish Teacher,
calls have been made.
5. Old Business:
A. Karen Rohrer will distribute copies of the final Calendar and Board/Committee List.
6. New Business:
A. Set date for Auction Committee to meet.
B. Reminder to take down flyers for events:
Discussed that flyers need to be taken down after events, as requested
by Chip Garth.
C. Scrip Program: Laurie McDonald stated that in
order to get the Scrip program started she needs to have an individual who is
computer literate to install program.
Discussed that a committee needs to be formed to run this program. A call will be made for volunteers.
D. Discussion of F.A.I.T.H. Hours: Concerns were
raised about obtaining F.A.I.T.H. hours if your child’s teacher doesn’t use
parent volunteers. Mr. Leffler stated to
start with the teacher or perhaps volunteering for other classes. Julie Tappendorf stated that teachers could
also use help in the summer while they are preparing for the coming school
year.
C. Adjourn with

Lord’s Prayer.
