PTF Board Members Present: Renee Nagy, Karen Rohrer, Monica Taylor, Linda Prom, Tricia Morenz, Ralph Leffler, Faith Block, Lynn Marassa

Others Present: Leah Seten, Tami Crawford, Michelle DeYoung, Mary Slack, Diane Pelafos

A.  Renee Nagy opened with devotions and prayer.

B.  Business Meeting:

1.  M/S/C to accept the minutes from September 25, 2007.

2.  Treasurer’s Report: Discussed the Treasurer’s report. Total balance is $24,303.95. Discussion to change “Scrip Pro Software” to “SCRIP” since the $500 allowed for the Scrip Pro software was not needed and the Board voted via e-mail to allocate those funds to establish the SCRIP checking account. Linda will have a separate report next month on the SCRIP account. M/S/C to accept the Treasurer’s report.

3.  Committee Reports:

A.  Book Fair Pages For All Ages: Reminders for the Book Fair from October 27-November 4 will be sent home on Friday the 26th of October.

B.  Car Wash-RESULTS: The total for the 2007 Car Wash is $4,411.95.  The fifth grade won the pizza party for the most money raised.

C.  Box Tops: Faith Block reported that the Box Tops contest ends on 10/24/07 and the Box Tops will be mailed next week.

D.  Kirby Foods/HVC/ County Market:  The PTF received first check from Kirby Foods/HVC for $169.96 for the time period from July 1-September 30.  Ideas were discussed for signing people up next year.

E.  Logo Items: Nothing new reported.

F.  Market Day: Diane Pelafos reported sales from June to present are $1,100.  November order sheets went home 10/22/2007.  Paper orders are due Thursday, November 8 at 11:30, internet orders are due Friday November 9, and pickup will be on the 14th of November from 3:00 to 5:30. 

G.  Pie Sale:  The goal for the pie sale is 500 pies and cheesecakes and the money will be used for the 7th grade fund for the Gettysburg trip next year.  If the goal is hit, Principal Leffler will be the recipient for “Pie in the Face”.

H.  Monical’s Night: Monical’s night will be held on the 4th of February.  20% of sales will go to St. John School PTF.  Flyers will be sent home. 

I.  Teacher Conference Lunch- Fall-Tracy Brookshire & 3rd grade: Nothing to report. 

J.  Ice Skating: The date for the Ice Skating event is set for December 10.  The contract has been signed and sent.  The ice arena will be contacted regarding deadline for payment. 

K.  Schoolpop: Mary Slack stated she is continuing to make sure all participants have signed up correctly. Individuals can check their account under “My Profile”. 

L.  SCRIP: The first trial run for the SCRIP program was a success.  A second trial will be run, and hopefully people can start participating in November. A few volunteers are still needed to help run this new program.

M.  Auction for next year: No new information.

4.  Reports from congregational representatives: No new information.

5.  Principal’s Report: The Champaign Fire Department has completed their annual inspection and fire drill at the school. The junior high had a presentation on bike and driving safety from the Secretary of State’s office. Mr. Apodaca has started teaching Spanish to K, 1 and 2 on October 24 in addition to the other grade levels.  During the School in-service on October 29, teachers will be reviewing reading curriculum and textbook needs for next year. The report cards will be sent home with students on November 2.  There is a Veteran’s Day Program on the 8th of November at 10:30. 

6.  Old Business:

A.  Reimbursement for sales tax policy: Discussed the Sales Tax Policy.  The PTF will not reimburse sales tax.  All participants of programs will be instructed to use the Tax Exempt Number. M/S/C for Sales Tax Reimbursement Policy approved with changes.

B.  Departing ifts for Teacher/Staff policy: The PTF will provide cards for all departing teachers.  Gifts will be funded for retiring teachers, and gifts for others leaving will be discussed on an individual basis. The policy was deemed unnecessary.

7.  New Business:

A.  Discuss file cabinet policy: The Presidents and Treasurer will have keys for the file cabinet.  No need to approve this as policy since it is a guideline.

B.  Marketing Input Submission Procedures:  Monica Taylor reported that the Weekly Newsletter prepared by the school office includes a section for the PTF and those submissions are due by noon Thursday.  Monica will no longer prepare a PTF newsletter to post on the school web site. Monthly submissions for the Church newsletter are due to Monica by around the 15th of each month. Submissions for the Sunday bulletin need to be sent directly to Phyllis Martin in the church office by Thursday morning.

C.  Gettysburg Trip-6th graders:  PTF received letter from Pastor Wright thanking the PTF for their financial assistance for the recent trip.  Parents of 6th graders will be offered the opportunity to promote the December Market Day Cookie Sale with all proceeds benefiting them.

The next PTF meeting will be on the 27th of November in the Fellowship Hall. Refreshments will be provided by Tricia Morenz.
